I recently turned 61 and am a CEO of a technology start up company. I've noticed in recent pictures of myself that I have puffy bags under my eyes and excess skin on my upper eyelids that make me look constantly tired. I brought this subject up to my family physician and he explained how Blepharoplasty allows patients to appear more alert and not tired. In addition, my sagging upper eyelid skin started to make it difficult to see. My physician also mentioned that an upper eyelid lift removes this excess skin to broaden the scope of patients’ vision.

I have regular business in Bologna Italy and was introduced and recommended by a colleague to see Dr. Cristina Bona a Plastic Surgeon who practices on at the Agresti Clinic. After a great deal of research regarding Blepharoplasty surgery, I scheduled a Ptosis repair surgery for my left eye and an upper and lower blepharoplasty.

First, I had an initial preoperative consult with Dr. Bona the day before my actual surgery. I was required to submit updated blood work and a recent EKG. Dr. Bona and her staff seemed extremely knowledgeable; she studied my preoperative photos extensively for two weeks prior to our first meeting. Most important, Dr. Bona understood my goal for the surgery was not to look younger but not look tired.

I had my surgery on October 5th and it went extremely well! The procedure took just a few hours in the morning. I was checked for two hours post-op by the nursing staff and Dr. Bona and was discharged early afternoon post surgery. Saline and ice packs were prescribed post operatively for the first 5 days. There was little or no pain associated with the surgery other then some minor itching. No problem. After 5 days the non-resorbable sutures were removed and on day 6, I flew back to the states. No issues.

Comments four weeks post op from my wife and family are that I don’t look tired any longer, mission accomplished! I have been called “bright eyes” and comments are that my eyes look natural, I’m so grateful I had this surgery. I actually now have eyelids again along with a much better range of vision now that my eyelids aren't drooping.
